Author's Biography

Born in Cadiz (Andalucía, Spain), Angel G. Piñero studied music (solfege, guitar, harmony, counterpoint, chamber music, universal music history, etc...) at the "Conservatorio Superior Municipal" of Music in Barcelona, then going on to the Conservatory of Munich.

In the second stage of his studies, worried about the dilemma of playing the two schools which exist to play the classical guitar, as are the plucking with the fingernails, sonority: brilliant, metallic and spectacular or the plucking with the fingertips, sonority: soft, gentle, deep and pure, he studied again the guitar but this time with the left hand to play with the fingernails, leaving the right hand played with the fingertips. The fingertips technique and playing with the right hand, he uses it for the Renaissance and first part of the Baroque music, while the fingernails and playing this time with the left hand, he uses it for the second period of the Baroque, neoclassic, Romantic and Contemporary music.
The guitar for the right hand has grooves along the diapason to save the nails which are the used with the left hand.
The guitar for the left hand was built by the luthier Ignacio Fleta (year 1969), to be played with the left hand, being the only one built by him, to be played as a left-handed person.
This great artist causes the admiration of the different audiences for his faculty (unique in the History of Music) to play the guitar with both hands.
In this way, he opens new horizons for the study of the instrument, being the only concert player of the Guitar History who manages to get the two sonorities giving each of them its place in the general repertoire of Music.
